Just beyond the atelier, where the landscape begins to soften into ordered rows of silver-green, lies Joel's Hill.

What was once scrubland has, through patience and quiet determination, become an extraordinary Mediterranean garden.
At its heart, a broad pond reflects the changing light, while a simple fountain brings movement and sound to further enhance this peaceful landscape. Around it, more than eight hundred olive trees stand in immaculate grids, their rhythm stretching across the hillside with remarkable precision.

Lemon and grapefruit trees perfume the warm air, their fruit glowing beneath the sun.
Joel is a quiet, unassuming man. There is little ceremony in the way he speaks about the garden he has created, yet every path, every tree and every carefully considered detail reveals years of thoughtful stewardship. It is a place shaped not by haste, but by time.
As our closest neighbour, Joel's Hill has become a constant source of inspiration to Hectors Apothicaire. Throughout the seasons, it reminds us that beauty is often found in restraint, repetition and an intimate understanding of the land.

The changing light across the olive groves, the fragrance of citrus blossom in spring, the stillness surrounding the pond quietly influence botanical collections created in the atelier.
Many of the photographs throughout this journal were made while wandering these paths, observing the subtle details that define the Mediterranean landscape.
They are a celebration of a garden that continues to evolve, and of one man's enduring vision to transform wild ground into a place of remarkable calm and inspiring beauty.
