Figs - Summer's Last Hoorah

There is a particular stillness that comes at the end of summer.

In our Mediterranean garden, the fig trees are heavy with fruit, their leaves catching the last warmth of the season. We are surrounded by many varieties here at the atelier — each with its own character, its own colour, its own moment of ripeness.

The fig feels like the very essence of Mediterranean summer: generous, ancient and quietly sensual.

At Hectors Apothicaire, we are drawn to these simple botanical treasures. Our work begins with the belief that wellbeing can be found in the rituals of everyday life — in gathering, preparing, steeping, bathing, lighting a candle and taking time to notice what grows around us.

The apothecary tradition has always been rooted in this connection with nature. Plants, flowers, fruit, herbs and oils become part of slower, more considered rituals — not hurried, but made with intention.

And so the fig trees become part of our summer rhythm.

A morning spent beneath their branches. The scent of warm leaves. Fruit gathered at its perfect moment. The garden quietening as the season begins to turn.

Summer’s last hoorah.

Before the light changes and autumn arrives, we pause here in the Mediterranean garden and savour what remains.

A little sweetness.

A little sunshine.

A moment of slow living.

This is the world around our atelier — and the inspiration behind Hectors Apothicaire.
